We understand the complexities involved in locum revalidation, which is why we offer all of our doctors a full revalidation and appraisal service.

Revalidation is a mandatory requirement for all doctors who wish to maintain a licence to practice in the UK, as stipulated by the General Medical Council (GMC). It’s designed to increase patient confidence, improve the overall quality of patient care and support your continuing professional development.

We work with leading service providers in the revalidation industry to ensure our doctors are up to speed and fully prepared – Maargateway and Edgecumbe 360˚.

Maargateway provide revalidation and appraisal services whilst Edgecumbe 360˚ provide industry leading multi-source feedback.

Maargateway’s services include:

• Online personal accounts to store and review portfolios
• Revalidation portfolios
• Appraisal and revalidation recommendations
• Action plan creation for appraised doctors to help prepare for revalidation
• Guidance on reflective reading and feedback
• Communication with other responsible officers and the GMC

Edgecombe 360˚’s services include:

• A personalised account for each registered doctor, allowing them to manage and track the progress of their colleague feedback
• Collation of colleague and patient comments on behalf of the doctor
• Creation of professional reports for colleague and patient feedback
• An easy to use web portal for registration and payment collection
• A ‘Patient Pack’ for nominated third party collectors

Our Revalidation Seminars, which are based in Milton Keynes, run twice a year. The seminars attract over 200 doctors from across the UK, which allows them to partake in internal training courses, such as BLS and Safeguarding Children, earning additional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.

Seminar content includes a session with a Maargateway guest speaker, providing information on overcoming issues directly relating to the challenges locum doctors face. There is also the chance to receive a face-to-face appraisal on the day too.

Furthermore, we hold bi-monthly face-to-face appraisal days, held in our offices in Central Milton Keynes. At these events our doctors can get their appraisals completed by a fully qualified appraiser from Maargateway. BLS training is also available.
